On July 25th, the Washington State delegation to the Democratic national convention voted on whether to endorse Vice President Kamala Harris as the party’s Presidential nominee.
“The votes showed that 18%--nearly a fifth–of the Washington State delegation to the Democratic national convention still have concerns about providing an endorsement to Vice President Harris.
The Uncommitted Movement and Ceasefire Delegates have been steadfast in calling for the Democratic Presidential nominee to move specific policy toward an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza and to end unconditional military funding to Israel.
The Democratic party needs to hear our movement, because we represent the 83% of Democrats who want a ceasefire,” said Yaz Kader, an Uncommitted National Delegate.
Rami Al-Kabra, the only Palestinian elected official in Washington state, national delegate, and leader in the Uncommitted Washington movement, said:
“I am hopeful that Vice President Harris will unite us in defeating Trump in November if she takes real action toward an immediate and permanent ceasefire, return of all hostages–Israeli and Palestinian, restoring funding to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), and holding Israel accountable for their violations of US and international law.”
Three delegates who will attend the Democratic National Convention from Washington state are Palestinian.
